Marin Swords is a poet and a Wicklow Writer. His short film ‘Kathleen’s Child’ is a series of poems and stories about growing up in Ireland, in a time when some things were never talked about. ‘I called it Kathleen’s Child – a collection of Poems, and Things That Should Have Been Said,’ says Martin. Using family photos and other pictures, and with the help of poems and hindsight, the story comes alive on the small screen. Martin will present this short film on the night, which he hopes will inspire other poets and writers to record their memories for others to share. A compelling and touching story well worth seeing.

Jj Manning Roots Duo. Jj ‘thumbpicks’ Manning formed the Coffee House String Band in 2011, in an attempt to bring early acoustic blues, ragtime and roots music to the masses. Early performances have been greeted with great reviews. Jj plays acoustic guitar, slide guitar and 5 string banjo, and will be joined on the night by "Fretless" Antun on the upright bass. Ray and Postle are a two piece acoustic set from Wicklow town, featuring Rachel McDermott on guitar and vocals and Anthony Dickenson on guitar. Their music varies from high energy tunes to chilled out numbers, and they play a mixture of original pieces and some catchy popular cover songs. This is their first gig playing together and hopefully the first of many to come.

Famous Last Words bring their unique harmonic covers of classic pop tunes to the Space Inside Live Night session. An accomplished covers quartet with an impressive set list, their aim is to make music to make people happy!

In the month of St. Patrick's Day, our session will be an Irish theme with an Irish poet, singer and harpist, Irish dancers and 8 strong Wicklow Trad group:

WicklowTrad session will feature local musicians, many of whom are All-Ireland champions, all of whom combine to provide an evening of lively music, song and dance. They're young, energetic, and play trad music in a way that has an appeal way beyond the trad music scene. Siobhan Doyle has won numerous awards for her singing in Feis Ceoil and Feis Maithiu including the Gold Medal for Soprano Solo. She has appeared in over 40 musicals and operettas and has performed in The Percy French Story throughout the country. Siobhan will be accompanied by wonderful harpist, Ann O’Dea.

Fintan O’Sullivan is a fluent Irish speaker, poet and historian. He is also a teacher at the Gaelscoil in Gorey. We look forward to hearing his stories and his poetry in a celebration of the Irish culture.

Irish Dancing is a must on this Irish Nigh,t with Sean Nos and step dancing getting your feet tapping.

Live Night Tuesday 7 February 2012 - A Spanish Flavour

Nathalie Moyano Gonzalez is a flamenco aficionado by heritage. She is co-founder and director of  Peña Flamenca El Indalo, which promotes flamenco in Ireland. The group runs the Dublin Flamenco School, and also organises the Dublin Flamenco Festival. The second edition of the festival will take place in October 2012.  
Nathalie will be joined by a Flamenco guitarist José de la María. José is originally from Málaga, moved to Dublin in 2011 and joined Peña Flamenca El Indalo.

Leslie Dowdall is one of Ireland’s leading female vocalists and singer songwriters. She first came to prominence with In Tua Nua, who fused celtic tradition with rock. With Leslie as lead vocalist, In Tua Nua recorded four albums and, over a seven-year period, played and toured with bands including U2, Simple Minds, Bob Dylan, and The Pretenders.   

Leslie teaches performance and singing skills in her Education workshop project Songcraft. She will be joined on the night by a group of singer, Elle.

Eamon Sweeney was awarded the first musicology PhD to be accredited by DIT  Conservatory of Music and Drama. He has performed on stage, radio and TV both as a solo artist and with various ensembles including the National Symphony Orchestra and National Concert Orchestra. Eamon is also one half of the group Tonos  that specializes in a blend of Irish and European music from the 16^th to 18th centuries – mixing musical

flavours from the wider Traditional Irish, Celtic and Spanish Traditions. The Spanish word ‘tonos’ translates as ‘tone.’

Jane Clarke is a widely published poet who lives near Glenmalure in Co. Wicklow. She has won a number of prizes including Listowel Writers Week (2007) and the iYeats (2010). She writes contemplative, lyrical poems with evocative rural imagery and a strong sense of musicality and rhythm.

In keeping with our Spanish theme, Enrique Alda, a graduate in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Salamanca (Spain), will translate Jane’s poems into the wonderful Spanish language.

With Special Guest  Mia Parsons

Mia Parsons is a singer whose voice has been described as being like 'chocolate'. A singer/songwriter, her deeply moving music spans jazz/funk and blues. A regular performer at festivals and other musical events, she has worked with many of the great Irish jazz musicians, including Richie, Hugh and Michael Buckley, Greg Felton, Myles, Paul and Anto Drennan, to mention a few.
