Open Mic Live Night - Tuesday 5 June @ 7.30
It's the final Space Inside Open Mic Live Night of the season which, weather permitting, will be held on the roof of the Wicklow Sailing Club. Note earlier kick off time of 7.30 to get the most out of the evening sun! Just turn up and perform - be it poetry, music, dance or drama.
We have two sets of Special Guests - Mia Parsons and Evelyn Campbell in harmony, and Anne Graham and friends. And there's still plenty of time for those Open Mic performers!
Mia Parsons is a singer whose voice has been described as being like 'chocolate'. A singer/songwriter, her deeply moving music spans jazz/funk and blues. A regular performer at festivals and other musical events, she has worked with many of the great Irish jazz musicians, including Richie, Hugh and Michael Buckley, Greg Felton, Myles, Paul and Anto Drennan, to mention a few. She released her album 'OCEAN' in 2007.
Evelyn Campbell's musical career started when, as a teenager, she sang and played around the pubs and clubs of Dublin with such well-known contemporaries as 'Tir Ná Nog' and Freddie White. While singing backing vocals for Sonny Condell of 'Tir Ná Nog', she once supported Kate and Anna McGarrigle on a rare Irish tour. She believes that when a song is written it takes a life of its own and 'demands' to be performed. This creative and fruitful phase has resulted in her album 'OVERDUE REVIEW'. A source of topics that influence Evelyn's songs concern social justice, political upheaval, and community awareness.
Annie Graham is a singer-songwriter and guitarist living in Wicklow. She has one album and a Christmas E.P. under her belt with her band Aphrodite Lion, who are currently working on their second E.P. Annie has been compared to the likes of Florence and the Machine, PJ Harvey, and Sharon Van Etten. As special guest, she will sing some songs off the Aphrodite Lion E.P., as well as a few of her solo numbers. She will be joined on some tracks by her friends S.A.M on the night
