Carol Boland hands over the reins

Hi all,
After nine years of feeding, burping and winding my 'baby' it is time for me to cut the cord. It has been a pleasure working with so many talented performers over the years and I shall miss the buzz of Tuesday Live Nights and the wonderful audiences who were always so respectful of the singers, dancers, poets and musicians. But my life has taken another direction and Tuesdays now take me to Kilkenny to further my studies and my wish to become a Poetry Therapist..

I have no doubt that the excellent team who remain on board the Space Inside will bring new ideas and fresh minds to the evenings and I look forward to dropping in whenever it is possible.

Many thanks again for all the support over the years. Best wishes to the team and here's to another nine years of keeping the arts alive in Wicklow.

Kind Regards
Carol Boland

At time of writing they are working on their first EP "Cross my Heart and Hope to Die.”

LIVE NIGHT TUESDAY 5 FEBRUARY 2013

Next Live Night performance is on 5 February 2013 in Wicklow Sailing Club

Launch of Poetry Bus 4 (PB4). Peadar O'Donoghue (poet) is editor of The Poetry Bus Magazine, a new magazine of contemporary poetry and illustration, an alternative to the current crop of poetry magazines, and different in its design , artwork, and thinking - a CD of  poets reading their poems and including original music, is issued with every copy.
Poetry Bus features the very best of the new wave of emerging voices in Irish poetry. It is a magazine which is serious about poetry and art, but won't take itself too seriously. Peadar O'Donoghue and a selection of poets from PB4 will read on the night. Stuart Wilde, who sings on PB4 CD, will also perform.

Stuart Wilde's music is unique. Dark, heartfelt and poetic, his songs range from thunderous to tender, populated by stories of lost love, shadow worlds, dirty dishes, the sea, mud and crows. His music has been compared to Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan.
Coming all the way from Cork, Stuart plays guitar & foot percussion to accompany his singing, making a big sound, which could be described as Alternative Irish Blues. 2011 saw the release of his  debut Album, “The Black Crow” followed by gigs in Ireland, Germany and the UK.

Al O'Donnell, singer/singwriter/musician is ‘One of the great voices in our singing tradition’ (Derek Copley Irish Independent) He released his album: AL O’Donnell RAMBLE AWAY a 2 CD collection of live and studio recordings on Celtic Airs label CACD 130 in 2008.
For those who remember him in the 60’s and for the younger generation who missed out on that golden era, Al O’Donnell’s gigs are a wonderful chance to experience the raw passion he puts into his songs. Al will be joined by Mick Brennan on mandola. Always a pleasure to hear him perform at the Space Inside.

Matt and Caroline met a couple of years ago through their involvement in a local folk group. They come from vastly divergent musical backgrounds covering Operatic, Musicals ,Weddings etc on Caroline's side, American folk and Rock for Matt.
A gradual discovery of a mutual love of harmonies led them to meet regularly for fun to work together on songs from different genres and styles, and for almost a year now they have been singing as a duo, developing a sound that is both melodic and fun. They are delighted to share their love of music with new friends and hope you enjoy listening as much as they enjoy playing for you.

Alektic Blankets. Alecktic Blankets are Megan Evans and Rachel Moore from Wicklow Town. With years' of musical and performing arts experience between them, they decided last year to bring their eclectic tastes together. With covers of songs by a diverse range of artists from Johnny Cash to Justin Timberlake, Bob Marley to MGMT, Alektic Blankets are sure to surprise and entertain you with their unique interpretations.

It's sure to be a great night!
